Bursa Uludağ University (BUÜ) Faculty of Dentistry held a special ceremony to mark the opening of the 2024-2025 academic year. During the event, the newly admitted students of the faculty were ceremoniously presented with their white coats for the first time.

The 2024-2025 academic year officially began at BUÜ Faculty of Dentistry. The ceremony was attended by BUÜ Rector Prof. Dr. Ferudun Yılmaz, Vice Rector Prof. Dr. İrfan Kırıştıoğlu, the President of the Bursa Branch of the Turkish Dentists' Association, Kerem Turgut Atasoy, businessman İbrahim Gülmez, academic and administrative staff, as well as the students' families. During the program, the white coat ceremony for the new students was also held.

FACULTY BUILDING TO BE READY BY THE END OF THE YEAR

In his speech at the opening, BUÜ Rector Prof. Dr. Ferudun Yılmaz wished success for the new academic year. He also mentioned that the university would soon begin celebrating its 50th anniversary, stating, "Our university has become a half-century-old strong institution. We are among the 23 research universities in Turkey. In this sense, we can confidently say that our students are attending a prestigious university. Our Faculty of Dentistry is also the youngest faculty on our campus, having just turned five. This year, we will begin graduating students. The construction of the faculty building is ongoing, and it will be a highly qualified, modern, and robust facility. I would like to take this opportunity to thank businessman Mr. İbrahim Gülmez once again, who has greatly contributed to the construction of the building through his generous donations."

YILMAZ: WE ARE WORKING TOWARDS IMPROVEMENT

Rector Yılmaz emphasized the university's commitment not only to physical infrastructure but also to strengthening the faculty's academic staff. He said, "We have a young but highly capable team. We continue to recruit dynamic and young faculty members, further enhancing our team. We admit students from prestigious rankings. Our goal is to make this esteemed faculty even more qualified. We believe we will succeed together. You will study at a great university, on a beautiful campus, and in a valuable faculty. I wish success to all our students and faculty members in the new academic year."

TRAINING COMPETENT DENTISTS

Prof. Dr. Alper Pampu, Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry, emphasized that an integrated education system is being implemented. He explained that both theoretical and practical training are provided throughout the five-year education process. Speaking to the students, Prof. Dr. Pampu said, "Welcome to the Bursa Uludağ University and Faculty of Dentistry family. Today, you will wear your white coats and take your first steps into the profession. At the end of your five-year education, we will send you off as highly trained dentists. We also thank the families who have entrusted their children to us. They will return home with qualified dentists. I wish the new academic year brings prosperity and success to all of us."

After the opening speeches, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Yeliz Hayran, a faculty member of BUÜ Faculty of Dentistry, delivered the first lecture on the topic "From the Past to the Future: The First Step in Dentistry in the Light of Science." Following the award ceremony and a speech by the faculty student representative, a mini concert was performed by the Faculty Music Group.

The program concluded with a speech by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ezgi Doğanay Yıldız, titled "The Meaning of the White Coat," followed by the white coat ceremony and the recitation of the medical oath by all the students.
