Bursa Uludağ University Graduate School of Health Sciences has completed the final stage of the ORPHEUS Label process, aiming to develop and disseminate best practices in doctoral education in the field of Biomedicine and Health Sciences through the 'Site-Visit' Program.
Bursa Uludağ University Graduate School of Health Sciences's membership application to ORPHEUS (The Organisation for PhD Education in Biomedicine and Health Sciences in the European System) was accepted in April 2021. Subsequently, a process of improving and evaluating postgraduate education programs, supervisor training, and the Graduate School operations began. Following revisions, the 'ORPHEUS Self-Evaluation Questionnaire' was submitted to the organization on January 31, 2023, initiating continuous interaction with the organization. The final stage of the process, the site visit program, took place on February 18-20, 2024.
As part of the site visit, Prof. Dr. Rudolf Schubert from Augsburg University, Germany, and former ORPHEUS President Prof. Dr. Robert Harris from the Karolinska Institute in Sweden visited the Graduate School of Health Sciences to evaluate the graduate school and university practices on-site. Initially, they met with Prof. Dr. Feridun YILMAZ, the Rector of Bursa Uludağ University. The program, attended by Prof. Dr. İrfan KIRIŞTIOĞLU, Vice Rector of Bursa Uludağ University, commenced with opening speeches. Followed by Bursa Uludağ University Graduate School of Health Sciences Director Prof. Dr. Gülşah ÇEÇENER's speech about our university and doctoral education.During the program, presentations were made by Yasemin ÖZDEMİR - Quality Coordination, Prof. Dr. Sevcan ÇELENK - Scientific Research Projects Coordination, Prof. Dr. Esra KARACA - Research and Development Coordination, Prof. Dr. İrfan KARAGÖZ & Emel GÜZEL-ULUTEK, Instr. Nihal SAĞLAM - Technology Transfer Office, and Prof. Dr. Nevzat KAHVECİ & Dr. Diğdem YÖYEN ERMİŞ - Animal Breeding and Research Unit (DENHAB). The visiting team completed the visit program by conducting meetings with Graduate School Administrative Board Members, Department Heads, Supervisor Faculty Members, and Doctoral candidates.
Members of the ORPHEUS label commission found our university's infrastructure and the facilities offered for research and education impressive from various perspectives. They particularly noted the happiness and satisfaction expressed by doctoral candidates regarding their education, the positive relationship with graduate school management, and the arrangements and improvements made by thegraduate school regarding the acquisition of transferable skills by candidates within the doctoral program.
