Program Outcomes & Educational Objectives

Key Learning Outcomes :

1. Technical competence in mathematics, science, and civil engineering, and an ability to apply the conceptual and practical knowledge gained in these areas to the field of Civil Engineering.

2. An ability to detect, identify, formulize and solve complex civil engineering problems; to select and apply proper analysis and modeling methods for this purpose
3. An ability to design a complex system, process or production under realistic requirements in order to fulfill certain needs; to apply modern design techniques for this purpose
4. An ability to devise, select and use modern techniques and tools; an ability to use effectively information technologies
5. An ability to design and conduct experiments to analyze Civil Engineering problems, as well as analyze and interpret data
6. An ability to function in multi-disciplinary teams
7. An ability to communicate effectively by verbal, written, and graphical means; knowledge of at least one foreign language
8. Recognition of the need for and an ability to engage in life-long learning; an ability to access knowledge and pursue scientific and technological advances
9. An understanding and perception of the professional and ethical responsibilities
10. Knowledge on applications in business life such as project management, risk management and change management
11. Knowledge on the social and global impacts of Civil Engineering applications on health, environment, security and contemporary problems; awareness of the judicial outcomes of engineering solutions
12. Interest in contemporary issues, both nationally and internationally, and the awareness of the impact of Civil Engineering in these areas

 

BUU Civil Engineering Educational Objectives

1. Can work as a staff or manager in public institutions,

2. Work as a project engineer, field engineer or site supervisor in private companies providing national or international services,

3. Conduct postgraduate studies at universities in Turkey or abroad, work as an academician at universities, take part in or conduct research projects

4. Become an employer by establishing or becoming a partner of a company providing civil engineering services.

5. Develop himself/herself with appropriate professional certificates and social-education programs that can guide his/her career.
