The history of the Electrical and Electronics Engineering Department dates back to 1975 when the Bursa Electrical Faculty was founded. In 1982 the Electrical Faculty was structured as the Engineering Faculty comprising Electronic and newly established Mechanical and Textile Engineering Departments by the authority of the Institute of Higher Education. The Electronics Engineering Department had its first graduates in 1979 after completing the 4 years Bachelor of Science in Electronic Engineering program. In 2000-2001, the department began to serve evening education which follows the same curriculum of formal education. The name change (Electrical and Electronics Engineering) application of our department to YOK was examined and accepted at the General Assembly of YOK dated 01.03.2013.
The department carries out education and research activities in 7 main areas of Electrical and Electronics Engineering discipline: Circuits and Systems, Electromagnetic Fields and Microwave Techniques, Electronics, Communication, Electrical Installations, Control and Command Systems, Electrical Machines.

To be a department that conducts original research at the international level in its field, provides skills in the acquisition, application and production of knowledge with the understanding of a continuously developing education system and whose graduates are preferred.
Mission
To carry out original researches, to provide the necessary education to its students in the fields of general engineering and electrical and electronics engineering, to train engineers who are committed to ethical values, compatible with teamwork and to provide services for the benefit of society.

Our Graduates
Graduates of our department are employed by world-class companies such as Alcatel, Teletaş, Vestel, Siemens, Netaş, Aselsan, Türk Telekom, TRT, Telsim, Turkcell, Fiat, Renault, as well as private and public institutions operating in the electronics and telecommunications industries. At the same time, some of our graduates are admitted to our graduate programmes and many others continue on to graduate programmes at other universities in Turkey, such as ITU, Boğaziçi University, and other prestigious universities or institutions of higher learning in the USA and Europe.
Department Facilities
The Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering is one of the eight departments of the Faculty of Engineering and has a closed area of 5192 m2. The Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering has 13 research and student laboratories, 10 classrooms, eight of which are equipped with projection systems, 31 staff offices and a meeting room.
The offices of the head of the department and the department secretary are on the 3rd floor of the faculty building, while the offices of the faculty members and research assistants are on the 3rd and 5th floors of the building.
The 20-person capacity department meeting room is located on the 3rd floor of the building and is used for seminars, meetings, presentations and graduate thesis examinations. The Ahmet Rasim Büyüktür Meeting Hall with a capacity of 110 people is also located in the main building, which is shared by all departments of the faculty for general meetings and seminars.
Each faculty member has a room with a computer and internet connection provided by the university administration in order to improve the quality of teaching and research. There are various societies organised by the university students for technical and social activities. The university and faculty management support some projects and students participate in national university events with their own projects. Students can use the faculty meeting rooms for the meetings of their societies.
There is a photocopy centre in the main building, which is used by all faculty lecturers and students.
