About Us

Our department, which was established in 1993 under the name of Turkish Education Department after the Higher Education Council became active, is among the first departments opened under this name in Turkey.  It gave its first graduates in 1998. Within the framework of the restructuring after 1998, our Department has gained more functionality for the purpose of training Turkish teachers for the second level of primary education.

Turkish Language Teaching Undergraduate Programme of our Department accepts students with TS-2 score type in the placement exam conducted by ÖSYM. Graduates of our undergraduate programme work as Turkish teachers in educational institutions.

In addition to the Undergraduate Programme, Turkish Education Master's Programme, Turkish Education as a Foreign Language Master's Programme and Turkish Education Doctorate Programme are also carried out within the Institute of Educational Sciences.

There are 7 professors, 5 associate professors, 1 doctoral lecturer, 2 research assistants and 1 project assistant.

The main aim of our Department is to train Turkish teachers who have the universal values and competences of teaching, who are open to continuous development, who are needed by various educational institutions at different levels in the fields of teaching Turkish as a mother tongue and as a foreign language with a contemporary language teaching approach.
